RESEARCH AND ENGINEERING
Custom Glass Experts
Our research & engineering team combines their deep understanding of glass and material science with their love for problem-solving. As a bonus, they are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Our on-site laboratory enables rapid product development projects and an iterative approach to solving our customers toughest challenges.
While the specifics vary for each client, the outcome is the same: Our glass design experts recommend compositions from our extensive glass portfolio or develop new compositions based on their manufacturability and their ability to meet your requirements.
Custom Composition Development
Our deep expertise in developing glass formulations that solve complex problems was central to our founding and remains a key core competency today. We have helped many customers accelerate product time to market through our flexible glass-melting capabilities, ranging from a few grams in our lab to thousands of pounds in production. Our expertise in material science and glass manufacturing results in formulations that are optimized and ready for large-scale production. We can develop custom compositions to meet strict requirements for:
- Thermal Expansion
- Chromaticity
- Light Transmission or Absorption Wavelengths
- Color Correction
- Mechanical Performance
Glass Testing
Many of the products we manufacture for our customers have strict light transmission, chromaticity or photometric requirements to meet industry and regulatory standards. Our in-house research & engineering lab is fully equipped to assist customers through all stages of product design, development and delivery. We’re able to measure and test the following glass properties:
- Spectral Transmission
- Chromaticity
- Expansion Coefficient
- Polarization
- Density
- Refractive Index
- Photometric Performance
- Thermal Properties
